Idaho Falls

A few weeks ago, after school got out for summer, we decided to take a little day trip to Idaho Falls. The kids had seen a billboard advertising the Titanic exhibit and they were dying to go see it. Our whole family seems to be into history, so of course Eric and I weren't going to miss an opportunity to take the kids to see something to neat! We were not disappointed! Of course, being a museum they don't allow cameras inside, so no pics of anything inside the museum. When you enter they give you a card. On the card it has all the information for an actual passenger that was aboard Titanic. It gives you a name, age, who they traveled with and why they were traveling. Also their cabin # and class. You walk through the exhibit and see artifacts that have been recovered. There were tiny perfume bottles and the sign said that they still smell like they would have then. They have pictures and stories, menus for what each class of person ate while aboard, and the kid's favorite part was the giant glacier that they had. You were supposed to touch it and see how long you could stand to have your hand on it. They said that the night that Titanic sank the water was even colder than that glacier and at that temp. a person could only live about 3 minutes. Sad I thought. Not the way I want to go I don't think. I could only hold my hand on the glacier for about 17 seconds before it hurt and I had to pull back. At the end of the exhibit, they had a huge passenger log on the wall where you can find the name of the person on your card and see if they lived or died. Our whole family survived except Logan. His name was Mr. William Arthur Lobb, age 30, from Scranton, Pennsylvania. he was accompanied by his wife. They were 3rd class passengers. They were returning home, where William worked as an engineer for the Lackawanna Railroad. They had been in Cornwall, England, to visit William's family following the death of his brother. William was very proud to be aboard Titanic. He sent a postcard featuring a picture of Titanic to his parents, writing: "This is a picture of the largest steamer built."

Our Boading Pass

These are all of our tickets and the stories that go with them.

One of the the tickets with the story of a 6 year old girl.

After we were done at the museum we stopped for a few pictures by the falls. Those I can share.

Busy, Busy, Summer.

First of all let me start out by saying "I love summer!" School has been out for less than a month and we have been so busy! It is nice being able to sleep in and not having to worry about homework and bed time. We can get up and go whenever we want and we don't have to worry about getting home before school is out.

Logan and Baylee played city baseball and both did very well. Baylee's team was undefeated until the last 2 games. Logan is so little that the pitchers couldn't find his strike zone, so he always got on base and he would steal his way home. It was always very intense watching.

My nephew, Steven, just graduated high school this year and we are so proud of him. He plans to go to college this fall and wants to be a teacher. Best of luck to him!

The Graduate!

Getting his diploma.

My niece, Rose, just had her 13th birthday and is so excited that she is now a teenager. Dee you have my sympathy. LOL! Dee now has 3 teenagers in her house. Happy birthday Rose!

We just came back from our family reunion with Eric's side of the family. We went somewhere new this year and the new spot was awesome! Great find Andy and Justin. It was a huge spot. Plenty of room to play horse shoes, lots of 4 wheeler trails, minimal sage brush (which is really a plus for me, because it gives me migraines) and there was a rope swing for the kids and they all loved it. 3 of the 4 days were wonderful weather. Saturday it rained most of the day, but we just played football in the mud. It will take more than rain to stop this committed bunch from having fun! I really hope we go to the same spot next year! It was nice seeing everyone and playing games, and chatting. Reagan and me on the first day of Reunion

Awww!

Shhh! Don't wake them up!

We recently bought a new truck to pull our trailer. We love it! The kids love the sunroof, I like the movable pedals and fully adjustable seats. They really help me out since I am so short. The leather seats clean up so easily, and they are heated which will be nice in the winter. Not much help now though. lol We are selling our green ford if anyone is interested. It also seats 6 and will pull anything. Well I think that pretty much covers all the happenings in our lives right now. I will try to post more often, but hey, isn't summer more about playing than posting? Kidding.
